First things first
Power it off immediately
Hold the power button and shut it down completely. If the screen is unresponsive, force restart to power off.
Do NOT charge it
Charging sends electricity through wet components and causes short circuits — often destroying what could have been saved.
Do NOT put it in rice
Rice is a myth. It doesn't draw moisture from electronics, wastes precious time, and can push starch debris into ports.
Do NOT use a hair dryer
Heat can warp components and push moisture deeper into the device. Air drying is better than heat — but a shop is better than both.
Remove case & SIM card
Take off any protective case and remove the SIM tray if accessible. Gently blot exterior moisture with a soft cloth — don't rub.
Bring it in immediately
The difference between success and failure is often measured in hours. Call (303) 630-9499 on your way in.
The Rice Myth — Why It Doesn't Work
Putting a wet phone in a bowl of rice is one of the most widely repeated pieces of bad tech advice. Here's the reality: rice absorbs moisture from the air around it, not from sealed electronics. The internals of your phone dry at the same rate in rice as they would sitting on your desk — while corrosion is actively forming on your circuit board. Every hour you spend waiting for "the rice to work" is an hour of corrosion buildup that could have been spent in professional assessment and cleaning. Don't wait. Come in.
What we assess
Water Damage Diagnostics for All Major Devices
We assess water-damaged electronics across all major device types at our South Denver shop. Free diagnostic — we tell you what's salvageable before any cost is incurred.
iPhone
All iPhone models from any generation. Even water-resistant iPhones can fail after deep submersion, pool chemical exposure, or repeated exposure over time. Speed is the single biggest factor in outcome.
Samsung & Android
Galaxy S, A series, Fold, Flip, Google Pixel, and other Android devices. Water resistance ratings give false confidence — seals wear over time and aren't covered under warranty.
iPad
All iPad models. iPads present well after liquid exposure but internal corrosion can develop silently. A free assessment catches damage before it spreads to more components.
MacBook
MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. Liquid spills on the keyboard are the most common — liquid travels through the keyboard into the logic board. Do NOT close the lid after a spill. Power off, bring it in open if possible.
Windows Laptop
Dell, HP, Lenovo, ASUS, and all major Windows laptop brands. Keyboard spills are common in home and office environments. Same protocol — power off, unplug immediately, bring it in.
Apple Watch & Wearables
Apple Watch and other smartwatches can fail after pool use, saltwater exposure, or soap/shampoo contact. Even IP68-rated watches are not rated for pool chemicals or hot showers.
The honest truth
What Affects Whether Your Device Survives
Water damage outcomes aren't random. These are the factors that most influence whether we can save your device.
Improves your chances
- Device was powered off immediately
- Brought in within hours — not days
- Clean fresh water (vs salt, pool chemicals, or sugary drinks)
- Device was not charged after exposure
- Short exposure time before powering off
- Newer device with better component layout
Reduces your chances
- Device was charged or powered on while wet
- Waited days before bringing it in
- Saltwater, pool water, or sugary liquid exposure
- Put in rice — wasted critical time
- Extended submersion or repeated exposure
- Visible corrosion already present on connectors
What IP Ratings Actually Mean — And Why They're Not a Guarantee
Your phone is rated IP67 or IP68. You think it's fine. Then it fails after a swim. Here's why: IP ratings are tested on new devices under controlled laboratory conditions. Real-world use degrades the seals over time — especially after drops that disturb the adhesive, or after previous repairs. And IP ratings don't cover every liquid type.
What happens when you bring it in
Our Water Damage Assessment Process
Here's exactly what we do from the moment you walk in the door.
Immediate intake
We take your device in immediately, confirm it's powered off, and begin our initial visual assessment — identifying entry points, visible corrosion, and affected areas.
Board-level diagnostic
We open the device and inspect the logic board and components under magnification. Corrosion, short circuits, and damaged components are identified before quoting anything.
Honest assessment & quote
We tell you what we found — what's damaged, what's recoverable, and what it will cost. We'll also tell you if the damage is too severe to justify repair cost.
Cleaning & repair
Board cleaning, component replacement, and full testing — display, touch, audio, charging, and cameras. 90-day warranty on qualifying repairs.
