Free Charging Port Cleaning — Walk In Anytime

This is our most common "repair" that isn't a repair at all. Lint, pocket dust, and debris pack into Lightning and USB-C ports over time until the cable can't make proper contact. Most people assume the port is broken. Very often, it just needs a proper cleaning — which we do for free, while you wait, no appointment necessary.

If cleaning restores normal charging, you're done. If it doesn't, we'll tell you exactly what's going on and quote the actual repair before touching anything. No hidden charges, no diagnostic fee, no pressure.

Not Charging Doesn't Always Mean the Port Is Broken

A lot of "charging port repairs" don't need a port repair at all. Here's how we work through the problem — in order, at no charge until we have an answer.

Step 1 — Free

Port Cleaning

We remove lint, debris, and corrosion from the port with precision tools. This fixes the problem in a surprising number of cases — often without any repair needed at all.

Step 2 — Free

Cable & Adapter Test

We test with a known-good cable and charger. A faulty cable or adapter is frequently the culprit — and costs nothing to rule out before any repair is considered.

Step 3 — Free

Battery Check

A severely degraded battery can prevent a device from accepting a charge even when the port is fine. We check battery health and rule this out before recommending a port repair.

Step 4 — Quoted

Port Replacement

If the port itself is physically damaged, corroded, or has failed — we quote the exact replacement cost for your specific device before starting any work.

Lightning, USB-C, MagSafe & More

Different devices use different connectors — and each has its own failure modes and repair considerations.

Lightning

iPhone 8–14 · Older iPads

Apple's proprietary connector used through iPhone 14 and many iPad generations. Extremely prone to debris accumulation — the small pin connector catches pocket lint easily. Usually the first candidate for a free cleaning.

USB-C

iPhone 15+ · iPad Pro/Air · Samsung · Pixel · MacBook

The universal standard now used on iPhone 15 and newer, all modern iPads, MacBooks, Samsung Galaxy, and Google Pixel. Larger opening than Lightning so less prone to debris, but still fails from wear, drops, and moisture over time.

MagSafe

MacBook Air · MacBook Pro

Apple's magnetic MacBook charging connector — MagSafe 2 (older) and MagSafe 3 (current). The magnetic connection protects against trip-and-fall damage but the port itself can still fail from physical damage or debris around the magnetic ring.

DC Barrel Jack

Laptops · Windows PCs

The round DC charging port found on many Windows laptops. Common failure modes include a broken center pin, loose solder joint from repeated cable flex, or physical damage from drops. Often repairable same-day.

Common Charging Problems We Fix

Bring it in if your device is doing any of these. Cleaning is free — diagnosis is free. We'll tell you what's going on before recommending anything.

Won't Charge at All

Plugged in, nothing happens — no charging indicator, no response. Could be port, cable, battery, or internal power board. We diagnose in order from simplest to most complex.

Intermittent Charging

Charges only at certain angles, randomly disconnects, or has to be held in place. Classic sign of debris in the port or a physically damaged connector.

Charges Wirelessly But Not By Cable

MagSafe or Qi wireless works fine but wired charging doesn't. This isolates the problem to the physical port — good news, as it means the battery and charging circuitry are working.

Charges Very Slowly

Device charges but at a fraction of normal speed — often partial debris blocking some pins, a degraded cable, or a failing battery no longer accepting a full charge rate.

Port Visibly Damaged

Bent or broken pins, corrosion visible inside the port, or physical damage from a drop. These usually require port replacement rather than cleaning.

"Accessory Not Supported" Message

iPhone shows this error when plugged in. Almost always caused by debris fouling the Lightning or USB-C port — a free cleaning resolves this the vast majority of the time.

Charging Port Repair FAQ

Yes — charging port cleaning is always free, no appointment needed. Walk in anytime and we'll clean the port while you wait. If the cleaning resolves the issue, you're done at no cost. If the port needs repair, we quote the exact price before starting anything.
The most common cause is debris packed into the port — lint and pocket dust compress over time until the cable can't make contact. Bring it in for a free cleaning first. If that doesn't fix it, we'll check the cable, battery health, and port condition in order and tell you exactly what the issue is before recommending any repair.
This message almost always means debris is fouling the Lightning or USB-C port and the pins can't authenticate the cable properly. A free port cleaning resolves this in the vast majority of cases. Bring it in — it takes a few minutes and costs nothing.
This actually points strongly to the port specifically — the fact that wireless charging works means the battery and internal charging circuitry are fine. The issue is in the physical connector. Start with a free port cleaning and go from there. If the port is physically damaged, we'll quote a replacement.
Port replacement pricing varies by device — an iPhone USB-C port replacement costs differently than a Samsung Galaxy or a MacBook. We quote the exact price for your specific device before any work begins. Call or text (303) 630-9499 with your device model for a fast estimate.
You can try carefully with a toothpick or soft brush — never use compressed air or anything metal inside a port as it can damage the pins. That said, DIY cleaning often misses compacted debris that's deeper in the port. Since we do it for free, it's worth letting us take a look — we have the right tools and lighting to do it properly without risking damage.
Port cleaning takes a few minutes. If a port replacement is needed, most are completed same-day within 1–2 hours depending on the device. We test charging fully before you pick it up.
